Bob, an anthropologist, his wife, Nance, and their two children, Roger and Sally, change their summer plans when Bob’s colleague and the government’s top advisor, Mr. Moriarity, asks Bob to forego the expedition he had planned and pursue a lead on the island of Mylako. It seems a structure has been spotted by an airship in what was believed to be the remote island’s uninhabited and impenetrable forest. Bob reluctantly agrees, knowing Moriarity is too old for the trip.

The US Review of Books (USRB) recommended and highly praised “The Scrolls of Belbou” by Dmitri Toul

The Scrolls of Belbou by Dmitri Toul has received acclaim from Mark Heisey of the US Review of Books. Beneath the rustle of forgotten leaves and the hush of an untouched island lies the whisper of memory; a story about what endures when empires fall silent. The Scrolls of Belbou is more than a tale of adventure; it’s a meditation on legacy, on the fragile threads that bind the present to the ancient past. Through buried ruins and rediscovered scrolls, Dmitri Toul reminds readers that history never truly disappears, it only waits for those brave enough to listen.

MEET THE AUTHOR

Dmitri Toul

I had a story in my mind that I felt could also inspire my young son to comprehend the value of doing one’s duty, even if that duty was under duress and stress. In all the great historical happenings, doing what may have been against all odds or against all common sense, doing that duty had allowed that which was considered foolish in certain situations to prevail which should not have prevailed. Sometimes standing up against wrong or even evil allowed those that were considered doomed to prevail to take down a terrible wrong or an evil despot. The scrolls of belbou, I believe allowed that to happen. It was a story I penned over several months. Having never written such a story turned out to be, I believe, a good and compelling tale that also became a book.

I am now an old man and the son that inspired this is now a middle age man. But the story still can bring about inspiration and perhaps put a spark in one’s heart to do more than what should be done in trying times. The book and story won the gold seal of excellence. the theme resonates with people who wish that goodness can defeat that which is not good and perhaps even evil. That theme still uplifts the human spirit and I believe always will.

All of this is new to me. I haven’t done or completed any interviews at this time. Except for the seal of excellence, which is quite a nice award, there has been no testimonials or reviews. But I do believe once the book and story goes out in the world is read, it will be fully appreciated for it’s content. The story of good over evil has always instilled in people a good feeling of proper closure of what is right in the world.
